VENICE CONT...

Sorry it's taken so long to finish my Venice story! This week was crazy!

Sunday Feb 19th:
Anna and I met up with our friend from high school, Chelsea, Saturday night, and Sunday morning we all set out to see Venice. But we started with some of the surrounding Islands, starting with... Burano! The island of the beautifully colored houses! (And they aren't exaggerating!) They are also known for their lace. I think this may have been my favorite island because it was beautiful and there weren't too many tourists blocking all the pretty things from view.

Another leaning tower made by the Italians...

Next, we hopped on a boat and went to the island Murano: island of the beautiful glass things! And they were beautiful! There was lots of jewelry, but some stores had more art-like things.

It's the goblet of fire!! Okay not really, but it reminded me of it...

Yep. That's what it looks like. Pasta covered in black, tar-like sauce. This is an interesting story. When we stopped somewhere for lunch, Chelsea and Anna both wanted to get pasta cuz it's Italy, so I figured I would get some too. Then I thought I should get some pasta with seafood in it, since the sea food was probably caught that morning. So I ordered cuddle fish spaghetti because I'd never had cuddle fish before... yea. Apparently it comes in a black sauce. It didn't taste near as bad as it looks, but it wasn't amazing either. Anyone who knows me and pasta knows that I'm not the biggest fan and I always need a lot of cheese and meat etc... with my pasta, so I was a little scared of this plate when the waitress set it in front of me...BUT!
I ATE IT ALL! (mostly) For the rest of the day, if there was ever something we were unsure of, Anna or Chelsea would say, "Well Haley ate black pasta today, so we can do this."

Picture I took of Murano as we drove away bound for Venice.

The Bridge of Sighs
The bridge with a gondola
We walked through the Plaza St. Marco again and saw some more crazy costumes.

THEY MADE CAPES OUT OF PAPER!!!!!!!

This is a big church we kept seeing and we went to find it, but when we got there it had closed 10 minutes earlier...

Little Pizzeria we ate at in Venice
My last view of the streets of Venice (Many of the streets had lights like that strung up. I'm not sure if it was only for carnival or if they just like lights...)
